Minimally – and only during an extract. WhereScape RED has been designed to minimize the workload and impact on the source system during an extract. No processing is performed on the source system beyond a simple read of singular database tables.
It depends. The designer can browse tables, table structures, indexes and data in all areas of the source system visible to the credentials used to access the system. WhereScape RED does not override the source system security model in any way.
WhereScape RED provides complete support for the creation of aggregates, other kinds of roll-ups, synthetic dimensions and other types of data elements not directly provided by the source system.
Yes. When information from SAP is required in an integrated enterprise data warehouse managed by WhereScape RED, the built-in SAP extractors and any pre-built application packs are leveraged by extracting from SAP’s own Business Warehouse (SAP BW).
