Red Herring Magazine has announced that WhereScape Software - the leading data warehouse lifecycle management company - has won a prestigious Red Herring 100 Asia 2007 Award.

The awards celebrate the most promising private technology ventures in the Asia Pacific region, with candidates from sixteen countries including China, India, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia and Vietnam. Winners were announced at the Red Herring 100 Asia event in Hong Kong, on August 29-31.

The winners were selected on quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their ecosystem.

"The winners are exceptional companies who thrive on innovation and strongly define the important role of technology in Asia’s economy and throughout the world," says Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring.

"After a rigorous evaluation process, we’re very happy with the winners we selected. There was a large pool to choose from and we’re impressed by the caliber of innovative talent bursting from Asia’s business and technology sector.”

CEO of WhereScape Software Michael Whitehead flew to Hong Kong to accept the award and attend the awards event, which brought together an elite group of entrepreneurial and global venture investment firms to showcase excellence in innovation. The event featured three days of keynote discussions, roundtable panels and networking events designed for participants to make connections and learn what it takes to achieve the best in business and technology in Asia.

He says the win is prestigious because it confirms WhereScape RED’s status as one of the most promising young companies in the region.

“Past winners have gone on to lead the next wave of disruption and cutting-edge innovation,” Michael Whitehead says.

“We’re proud that Red Herring has identified us as one of these companies. The purpose of the awards is to discover and highlight the most promising companies, and in the process help them attract capital that will enable growth and the realization of that promise. It’s a real vote of confidence to be selected as a winner.”
