If you’re considering a big data strategy without having full control of your data warehouse, ask yourself why. Sure, big data is a key part of a digital transformation, but it can only add business value if your existing stack can support it.
Big data requires interoperability throughout the stack. The arrows interlinking your bespoke process flow must be running at full capacity without latency or reliance on manual handoffs. Adding another ‘Big Data’ box to this flow that your current technology must communicate with and/or work around will only slow everything down and reduce agility. In short, you will be building on sand.
Data warehouse automation can help you orchestrate and optimize traditional data flows before embarking on a big data strategy to ensure what you have will work at the pace that big data will require. To learn more about this potential, read this blog I’ve written for this week’s Big Data Analytics Europe event in Amsterdam.
