Learning Care Group’s five brands maintained different systems, ways of managing data, and business definitions and metrics. Also, the company had no data warehouse for reporting and analytics, opting instead to capture data on a weekly basis and provide snapshots of the data to business users.
WhereScape RED was selected to streamline the warehouse development process, and to engage business and IT staff in a collaborative way that enabled rapid delivery and expansion of an integrated data warehouse environment. IT staff provided iterations, gathered feedback, and delivered usable data to business users in 10 days.
Using WhereScape RED, Learning Care Group generated and deployed a self-documented Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse in 120 days. The new data warehouse eliminated redundant data and report requests and greatly reduced the number of reports operations managers need to consume, enabling more time to be spent with students and parents.
Headquartered in Novi, Michigan, Learning Care Group, Inc. is the second largest for-profit child care provider in North America. An international leader in child education and family solutions, they provide early education and care services to over 100,000 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years.
A combination of people, process and technology, with WhereScape RED being a key ingredient, enabled Learning Care Group to deliver an information delivery platform with a limited budget and short time to execute that will continue adding and maintaining the agility required to serve the company’s needs for business intelligence.
