Siemens Managed Applications and Services aimed to modernise and revitalise its data warehouse environment, resources skills and capabilities, aging platform and development processes. Siemens Managed Services is replacing its on-premise architecture and coding methods with cloud-based platform Snowflake and a new automated ELT solution.
The Senior Management Team came to realise that WhereScape Data Automation could take pressure off individual knowledge and expertise while enabling developers to turnaround requirements faster. The aim was to make development cycles repeatable and shorter, allowing for iterative collaboration with the business.
The existing data infrastructure was scoped, mapped out and prioritised, while documentation was created in line with recognised best practices. Business critical outputs from the original data warehouse were recreated using industry accepted practices with cloud-based infrastructure and automated design tooling. Staff now automate the design, build and management of new infrastructure in a fraction of the time and cost, assured that any upstream/downstream dependencies in the underlying platform will be adjusted accordingly.
