MacAllister Machinery is a Caterpillar dealer covering Indiana and Michigan.
MacAllister’s data warehousing team had issues when trying to reconcile disparate data sources, including a new ERP system. A number of manual ETL approaches were tried using SSIS and BIML, but the data warehouse could not be maintained to an acceptable level.
MacAllister considered WhereScape and Informatica, but after a short demo it realised WhereScape was the right tool for the job. The company liked the visibility of the drag and drop GUI, and the ability to track data all the way from source to target.
Data Automation has made the database administrator's job less repetitive by enabling him to supervise complex processes he once had to decipher and commit himself. This makes him more productive and the data warehouse more effective, while improving personal relationships and trust within MacAllister’s IT department.
