Delta Community Credit Union

Founded in 1940, Delta Community Credit Union is one of the top five largest credit unions in the United States with more than 360,000 members, $5 billion in assets and 27 branch locations. The organization serves Delta Air Lines and 150 other businesses.

The challenge

Delta Community Credit Union relied on a wide array of spreadsheets and spreadsheet “wizards” to bring consolidated reporting across the organization to Delta’s business leaders. While investments had been made to develop an enterprise data warehouse and fuller reporting solution using Teradata and MicroStrategy, project delivery wasn’t progressing as quickly as needed.

The solution

WhereScape® automation enabled Delta Community’s small IT team of three to accelerate the delivery of a Teradata data warehouse and utilize metadata to integrate its MicroStrategy reporting environment. With WhereScape, the team was able to automate many of its development processes that previously required hand-coding, and delivered its data warehouse and a roll-out of three subject areas in less than 10 months.

The results

  • Delivered a Teradata enterprise data warehouse based on best practices and rolled out three subject areas – customers, deposits and merchant lending – in less than 10 months
  • Now provides an enterprise level, consistent view of the customer and their associated activities
  • Has increased user adoption from five users to more than 150 users

WhereScape® automation for Teradata was the only solution that would really let us take advantage of the massively parallel processing power of Teradata. And because it automated nearly everything, we could stretch every dollar in our budget.
