HUS (The Helsinki Health Authority) is the biggest health care provider and the second largest employer in Finland, with over 25k staff treating over 500k patients per year.
HUS’ old data warehouse had come to the end of its lifecycle and could not support the Big Data strategy chosen to drive the development of a new patient care management system. The team needed the ability to combine data from both legacy and new systems, and to build conceptual models.
It was decided that Data Automation was the best way to achieve these goals. HUS chose WhereScape 3D to scope and prototype the ideal architecture before it was built, and WhereScape Data Vault Express to quickly and safely build a Data Vault 2.0 on Microsoft Azure.
The new automated data warehouse enables the complexity to achieve everything HUS aimed for. The fact that WhereScape is database agnostic and metadata driven enables any change of direction the company chooses to take in future.
